Assignment #7

1. It is not true that listening to music alone makes you smarter. The author of this article suggest that learning how to listen, to understand, to appreciate, and play music does have great value but can best be achieved through guidance and effort.
2. The four types of findings that support the belief that music has strong biological roots are 1. Animals have fundamental abilities in music. 2. Biological behaviors are universal. Music is ever present. 3. Biological behaviors are often revealed early in life, before cultural factors. Toddlers and infants have musical capabilities. 4. The human brain is organized to process musical activity.
3. Playing music helps synapses grow stronger through use and it is weakened through disuse.
4. The Author says that music listening and music making facilitates students intellectual development and even helps students learn other basic subjects such as reading. In my opinion. Studying music and understanding music contributes to brain development. I believe this because a lot of the famous music composers were geniuses in their own right.
5. One of the most interesting fact O learned in this article was the fact that animals have music abilities.
