Musicianship: when Ashley was singing, she kept an accurate rhythm throughout the song. She sang at a good speed, she did not sing too fast or too slow so everyone was able to pay attention to and sing the song without trouble. Her phrasings were good as well. However, her tune/accurate pitch could use a little work because her voice did not get high or low when she sang. So I give her a 4 out of 5 in Musicianship.

Leadership: Ashley’s body language was easy to understand. She smiled a lot so her facial expression was great as well. Her voice tone and volume was a little bit soft so it was slightly difficult to hear her over her students singing. She kept constant eye contact with her students. She could have put a little more energy during her lesson plan, but overall it was ok. I give her leadership an 8 out of 10.

Preparation: Ashley’s preparation was excellent! She appeared to know exactly what she was doing throughout the lesson plan. Her knowledge of the music was great, she didn’t pause during her singing so she knew the song by heart. Knowledge of her plan was good as well; she knew exactly what to do and what to tell the students. Her instruments were all set and ready to go for her class. Lastly, her recordings/charts/materials were all ready and she didn’t have to look back on her lesson plan as well. I give her Preparation a 15 out of 15.

Delivery of Instruction: Ashley’s motivation and capturing of attention could use a little work, because she lacked energy in her, the students possibly lost a little enthusiasm towards the song. Her sequencing of steps was pretty well done throughout her presentation. Her verbal instructions were good as well. She could work on her questions though, there were quite a bit of yes and no based questions and most students might not want to answer the question when they aren’t being forced to. Her pace of the lesson was pretty well done, she flowed right through her lesson plan. She had good flexibility as well, she noticed when her explanation might not have made the most sense, she instantly caught on and rephrased herself. She could work on her feedback as well, she said “good job” quite a bit without an explanation behind the compliment. Her continuity/focus on lesson was great; she did not drift off topic at all. She didn’t have enough time so she didn’t get to do everything she planned, so her closure could of used a little more work, but otherwise did a great job! I give her Delivery of Instruction a 15 out of 20.
