I really like how right at the beginning, Darrell was very enthusiastic, welcoming his class by saying "Happy Friday 7th Graders!" It grabbed the student's attention right away. I liked the choice of song, especially for the grade. I think that it is important for 7th grade (or middle school in general) to be aware of the Star Spangled Banner because this is the time where they are learning a lot in school about America. This lesson plan could easily tie into a whole school unit. I like how Darrell talked about the high and low pitches on this song and how this song is a "wide range" song because there are a lot of dynamics. He talked with a very professional voice, although he could have talked a little louder. One thing I would also change would be singing the song, because that was a requirement for this lesson plan. I liked how Darrell also addressed the class towards the end, saying "Have a good weekend, and again, happy Friday". Being personal with your students is great!

The musicianship of the singer was great. She had wonderful and accurate pitch. Her voice is great. I would give it 5 out of 5. He could have showed a little more body language and intensity. Some more energy would always be a positive. His tone was professional and he made sure to show eye contact to all his students. I think he should have sung it more then once and added some type of motion to make it a little more interesting. I would give him 9 out of 10. He showed knowledge of his lesson plan. He could have gone through the song phrase by phrase to show knowledge of the music. I would give him 14 out of 15. The delivery was good. He started off by asking the students a couple questions which allowed them to loosen up a little. He flowed at a good pace and verbally explained what he was looking for in this lesson. He asked questions in the end which showed that he assessed his lesson. I would give him 20 out of 20. I believe passing out the music sheets was a very good idea for this song because it is quite long. Overall it was a good job. I would give him 48 out of 50.

The musician aspect of the project was effective and successful. Given the fact that what was planned was not taugh exactly. I planned on teaching the difference between the ranges in pitches with actual music tones. However, the recording on the song provided was on the words and not the music. So I revised the lesson to be centered on the pitches of the singer. The leadership protion of this project is difficult to critic given the position of the camera and my position to the class. Nevertheless the response from the class shows that my mannerisms toward the class was receptive. On the aspect of preporation, i did not have enough handouts due to the extra students for the day. The delievry of the lesson was effective as well, I used to the handouts for a visualization of the pitches being looked at. The transitions were ok, could have been better but as a result of the change in direction of the lesson, it was kind of off the cuff. For my next lesson plan, I intend on being prepared for the unexpected occurences.
