I think Lauren did a great job with he body language and facial expressions as well as keeping eye contact with the children the entire time. The voice tone and volume were a little low for young children. She showed that she had knowledge of the music and the plan that she was teaching. I think she could have been a little bit more motivating from the beginning to get her students attention. She did a great job of getting the children engaged and getting them to perform the musical tasks she wanted. The sequence that she used was a good way to teach the children so that they could understand each line. I would give Lauren a 45 out of 50.

I think Lauren did a great job on choosing the song. It was appropriate for her third grade class. Even when he class gave her wacky styles such as "homie" and "astronaut" she was still able to improvise and go along with her lesson as planned. As a teacher you never know what is going to be thrown at you. Even though she did not know what "homie" style meant, she asked her student. She did not let the students' odd choices ruin her lesson. Maybe next time teaching the lesson would be easier if she let the kids choose from about 3-5 choices she already knew the words to. It would be easier to teach the lesson if she knew all of the words to the phrases. It was a great idea to let the children be creative and choose their own styles. However, next time having a few styles for them to choose from would probably work better for the lesson. Maybe at the end of the lesson she could have let them choose their own versions. The way she sang the song was catchy!!! It kept me wanting to listen! It was great for her third graders. She really seemed like she wanted to be there. She had great eye contact and energy, She really knew her lesson. It just seemed messy at times because she was given wacky styles that the children wanted to do but she did not know the words to the phrases. She always motivated the children and kept their attention! She was really flexible in her lesson and yes she did have to adjust at some points. She made sure the children stayed on the steady beat and her focus was always on her class. Overall very well put together. I would give her a 47/50

I think that Lauren did a great job with her enthusiasm level for the song she chose to teach. Lauren greeted her class with a smile and had good eye contact. She kept the steady beat well through out the song and had the correct pitch and rhythm for the song. She was confident in teaching the song to the class and the different pitches that go along with it. The class was engaged in the song and seemed to be enjoying it. I think that she did well in asking students to come up with different phrases for the song. This allowed students to be creative and engage even more. What Lauren did not realize is that some students would be very familiar with changing the lyrics of the song. She seemed to be a little flustered with some of the unfamiliar versions to her knowledge. She did right in following through with the student and asking for confirmation on a certain style she was not sure of. This allows the student to put on the teaching hat and feel that his or her input is important. I would suggest that Lauren plan ahead by knowing how to react if a student suggests something not known to her when teaching. Perhaps, showing a little more confidence and not show confusion will make the transition smoother. Overall she seemed to enjoy teaching the song to the class and the new versions suggested. The students were also excited to give their input and really showed energy when singing the different versions. With some more preparation and improvements Lauren will do well with this grade level and in teaching.

I give Lauren 44/50 points for her lesson plan teaching.

I very much appreciate all of your comments, you gave me much more credit and confidence than i feel is deserved. I was very nervous it seemed in the video but i was also very excited and I'm really happy everyone saw and felt my excitement to teach "Boom Chicka Boom". I tried to look at everyone individually because i wanted to see what everyone's expressions were when they tried to think of a new verse. I should have been more up to date on the new verses of the song, that way i wouldn't have become so flustered and surprised at the unfamiliar verses the student's came up with. I agree with you all that a teacher should always be prepared and ready to answer any question a student may have. I also realized i need to work on the volume of my voice. I was very hard to hear, partially because I'm not very loud but partially because i was nervous. When working with student's i cannot have low self-confidence i must rise to the challenge and overcome my obstacles because the point is to provide children with the best education possible and i cannot provide that if i question my learning techniques. Thank you again for all of your positive feedback and suggestions.
